About Reportaż Radia Lublin
Reportaż Radia Lublin is radio reportage rooted in Lublin, its nearby villages, and the fragile evidence people keep when official memory fails. It listens before it explains. Episodes begin in rooms, graves, streets, workshops, former camp buildings, church landscapes, and private shelves where documents and objects have been waiting for someone to notice them. A Gestapo arrest site becomes the setting for the memory of Stanisław Kalinowski and wartime responsibility. A grave on Lipowa Street leads toward Janusz Świerzy, an artist, plastic artist, professor of secondary schools, and ethnographer whose interwar world now survives largely through archives. A tree in Kalinowszczyzna opens a conversation about a vanished synagogue, a market, and a neighborhood changed beyond recognition. In Jabłonna, legends about a holy place become an inquiry into folk belief, purity, borders, and the center of the world as imagined by a community. The tone is measured. It has room for grief, but it does not press grief into a neat lesson. One episode follows family memory out to the Kazakh steppe, where earth from the grave of Grigory Aganisyan and his parents becomes a relic carried home. Another looks at the closeness between housing, gardens, and the remains of a camp where people were killed during World War II. The result is unsettling because the geography is ordinary. People live beside places that still ask to be remembered. Art also appears as a form of testimony. In a workshop full of wax heads, drawings, and handmade forms, questions about death, humiliation, migration, fear, love, and the need to leave a mark are allowed to remain open. The series can also follow recovery in the present, as Dawid works with voice, body, music, and a studio microphone after an accident. Reportaż Radia Lublin is not a brisk history program. It is slower, more tactile, and more intimate than that. Its authority comes from accumulated witness, exact locations, and the patience to let unfinished human stories keep their rough edges.
Made for: For listeners drawn to serious documentary storytelling, Polish local history, family memory, wartime traces, art, folklore, and places where the past remains physically close.
What sets it apart: The show stands apart through its fieldwork texture: objects, rooms, graves, streets, and voices are allowed to lead the narrative before any conclusion is offered.
In their own words
