About Pup Talk The Podcast
Pup Talk The Podcast is a practical dog behaviour show built around the messy, emotional reality of living with dogs who struggle. It is gentle, but not vague. The episodes return again and again to anxious, nervous, reactive, sensitive, adolescent, and intense dogs, with advice that starts from what daily life actually looks like. Halloween becomes a planning problem: safe spaces, calming smells, closed curtains and windows, and carefully timed walks. Scent work becomes more than enrichment. In the conversation with Jack Fenton, it is framed as a way to widen a frightened dog's world, beginning with searches in places where the dog already feels secure. Mental health is treated as part of the training picture, not a side note. Owners are allowed to feel depleted, embarrassed, judged, or isolated, especially when a dog's behaviour has made life smaller than expected. The show is also interested in the dog's body. Episodes with Jess Barton and Andrew Hale bring attention to pain, physical wellness, nervous systems, trauma, stress, emotional safety, sensory mapping, and the limits of forcing progress. Training is presented as prioritisation. Instead of chasing every problem at once, the show asks what single change would make everything else easier. That gives the advice a grounded rhythm: reduce pressure, build safety, choose better games, protect the owner, and let the dog learn in conditions they can handle. Bodie, the over-enthusiastic rescue collie cross, keeps the show personal without turning it into a diary. Conversations with Ash and owner guests such as Gabby bring in the household reality of food prep, brain games, solo dog care, calmness work, and breakthroughs that may take a long time to arrive. The result is a kind, specific, behaviour-aware show for dog lovers who need more than quick commands. It offers practical support without pretending that complicated dogs are simple projects.
Made for: For dog owners living with anxious, reactive, sensitive, intense, or hard-to-settle dogs. It especially suits people who want practical training ideas alongside emotional support for the human side of dog care.
What sets it apart: The show combines games-based training advice with unusually candid attention to owner burnout, judgment, isolation, and mental health. Its best episodes make behaviour work feel smaller, calmer, and more humane.
