Podtrash

Podtrash is a Portuguese-language movie panel with a long memory and very little interest in behaving like a conventional review show. The format sounds crowded by design. A title goes on the table, then the conversation breaks into plot summary, argument, correction, old references, side jokes, and half-serious critical readings. Recent episodes show the range clearly. Emilia Pérez becomes a fight about awards, Oscar visibility, national cinema, musical excess, and how a movie can become a public event even for people who claim not to care about prizes. L’étrange couleur des larmes de ton corps gives the panel room to talk about giallo, Mario Bava, Dario Argento, surrealism, erotic style, color, madness, and violence. O Especialista turns into a riff-heavy tour through Stallone, mafia melodrama, flashbacks, revenge plotting, and related trash-cinema memory. Tarkan vs The Vikings opens onto Huns, Turks, Vikings, action-movie animal acting, battle scenes, and the absurd dignity the panel gives to a wolfdog burial. Even the Lado B episode has a story: old episodes disappearing from platforms, DMCA-safe music changes, podcast archive anxiety, and the practical problem of keeping a long-running show findable. The result is messy in a way that feels intentional. It is not polished film criticism, and it is not trying to be. Podtrash works through escalation. A serious point can land, but only after a joke, a correction, and a detour through another film, band, broadcaster, or prior episode. The show suits listeners who enjoy genre cinema discussed by people who remember too much, interrupt often, and treat lowbrow movies as worthy of both analysis and ridicule. Its edge comes from speed, bluntness, and accumulated in-jokes rather than from formal authority.
