About Orecchie e Segnalibri
Orecchie e Segnalibri is a literary program with the rhythm of a daily habit. Each installment centers on a book, usually moving from a passage into a wider conversation about the author, the edition, and the questions the work raises. Gianluigi Coltri is presented as curator and conductor, and the show’s personality comes from that readerly position. It is not detached criticism. It is guided attention. The books range from art history and literary classics to contemporary fiction, essays, and translated work available in Italy. An episode on John Ruskin’s Le pietre di Venezia treats the book as both a classic of art writing and a passionate guide to Venice’s architecture, atmosphere, and moral imagination. An episode on Samantha Harvey’s Le infinite notti turns insomnia into a subject of shared recognition, moving through sleeplessness, advice, habits, and reading as uneasy company. Vittorio Lingiardi’s Farsi male brings a more troubling register, with attention to psychic patterns, self-harm, toxic relationships, sacrifice, politics, and collective damage. Hella Haasse’s L’anello della chiave opens onto colonial Indonesia, Dutch memory, friendship, roots, identity, war, modernization, and loss. Gary Shteyngart’s Vera, o la verità brings the program into near-future unease, gifted children, artificial intelligence, family separation, social categories, and a child’s intelligence under pressure. The show often starts from the concrete facts of publication, translation, awards, editions, and reception. Then it lets the book complicate the room. Its pacing is warm but full of detours, with room for admiration, skepticism, aside, and joke. The listener hears a book being handled, not merely summarized. Orecchie e Segnalibri suits people who want a reading list with texture: why a book matters, what it touches, and what kind of unease or pleasure it leaves behind. It is especially strong when a single title becomes a doorway into art, history, psychology, memory, or social change.
Made for: For Italian-speaking readers who like books introduced through voice, context, and personal judgment. It fits listeners looking for fiction, essays, classics, and new translations beyond a simple recommendation list.
What sets it apart: The show’s strength is its single-book focus: excerpts, author context, and reflection stay close to the page while still opening onto art, history, psychology, and society. It feels curated by an avid reader rather than packaged as literary news.
In their own words
