O Pulo do Gato

O Pulo do Gato is a Brazilian early-morning radio news magazine with the energy of a newsroom already halfway through its first coffee. It is brisk. The show gathers the practical pieces of a day before many listeners have left home: traffic, road conditions, rodízio information, public notices, sports results, lottery estimates, health advice, and police updates. It does not stay in one lane for long. A segment may begin with São Paulo highways moving normally, shift into career planning or INSS paperwork, then land on corruption investigations, a football disciplinary agreement, or a listener training at a gym. The tone is familiar but not loose. Even when the subject is severe, the delivery stays clear, summary-driven, and built for radio. Crime reports include missing-person cases, stolen vehicles, femicide, prison deaths, and investigations involving public officials. Those items are handled as morning bulletins rather than sensational set pieces. The show’s softer side comes through in greetings, handoffs, cultural memories, and interviews that let people talk about music, regional tradition, and persistence. One episode, for example, turns toward emboladores, Zé Ramalho, Dominguinhos, MPB, rap, forró, sertanejo, and the work of keeping a tradition alive across generations. Practical service is just as central. Priscila Benades explains INSS rules, benefit documents, phone scheduling, and how listeners can retrieve income-tax material. Dr. Evaldo Stanislau brings a medical-consultancy feel to topics such as Alzheimer’s disease in women, menopause, diagnostic markers, and prevention questions. The program is also comfortable with small recurring features, quick specialist entrances, and the unmistakable rhythm of one show handing the morning to another. Names, places, times, public agencies, and amounts matter here. The appeal is not polish. It is motion, utility, and a sense that Brazil’s morning is being assembled item by item while people are getting ready for the day.
