Guest interviews running on caffeine and tangents.
The gist
Nerds on Coffee pairs guest interviews with loose, fast duo crosstalk, so a chat with an A&R director can wander into Red Dead and a Billboard Magazine conversation can end on a joke about going to look for Bigfoot. Coffee holds it together, with a cup from a different shop as the usual ritual.

About Nerds on Coffee
Nerds on Coffee opens with a quick chant naming coffee, comics and music, and the conversations that follow rarely keep the three apart for long. It is a duo show first. The pair talk quickly, interrupt each other constantly and treat the listener as someone already at the table, while guests set the subject without quite setting the tone. One interview begins with a squabble over whether the session is actually recording, resolved by a short lesson in input monitoring. That is the texture throughout: excited, warm, liberal with swearing and happy to digress. Episode titles name a run of interview guests, including Lucas Banker, Joe Kelley, Jay Van Buren and Maxwell Jones. Banker is introduced as an entrepreneur and director of A&R, and the early chatter turns to his failure to finish the last ten minutes of Red Dead. Joe Kelley of Billboard Magazine sits down before a Music Club crowd at Ludlow House and describes turning Billboard's live sessions into a real show franchise after early shoots in office conference rooms lit like an urgent care waiting room. That episode closes on a Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge mix-up and a plan to go look for Bigfoot. At Invite Only Studios in New York City, described on air as a second home, the Jay Van Buren conversation arrives at why a good Hollywood movie feels like a miracle and why quality comes easier from a small team than from decision by committee. The Maxwell Jones episode, taped in the same studio, detours into college athletics and the realization that physical size would rule out a professional career, with Steve Nash, Wes Welker and Julian Edelman thrown back as objections. The coffee in the title is not decoration. The usual ritual is a cup from a different coffee shop every episode, though in the Lucas Banker session it gets skipped out of plain laziness and the show briefly becomes 'Nerds on Water'. A Chimney Coffee roastery visit, where the dark Starbucks roast was explained as a deliberate choice, becomes a reason to give a standard Starbucks another try. Kyle, by one account on air, started the podcast without drinking coffee and now needs five cups a day. Even a guitar pitch joins in, with an Orangewood Guitars spot built around the fantasy of learning Wonderwall to impress a party. Another episode moves through cryotherapy, a riff about people wanting to be offended, participation trophies and a contest for a new bathroom sign. Joyce, named as the executive producer, gets teased as the person who decides which off-color moments land in the promo. The show also makes room for straight opinion: in a mini episode, Kyle answers Mario Lopez's comments on the Candace Owens show with an argumentative parenting case built around his son's Captain America toys and pajamas, then closes by conceding he can share his views aggressively. Between roastery trivia, Billboard shop talk and culture-war argument, the range is wide, and all of it runs at the same caffeinated speed.
Made for: Suits a listener who likes interviews loose and frequently interrupted, enjoys hearing music-business talk swerve into Red Dead, coffee roasts or Captain America, and is comfortable with strong language and pointed opinions.
What sets it apart: Its interviews sit inside a duo's constant crosstalk and a cup-of-coffee ritual, so a Billboard Magazine guest or an A&R director gets the same teasing and tangents the pair trade with each other. The show is also willing to set guests aside for an opinion-driven mini episode.
