About MONSTER ATTACK!

MONSTER ATTACK! is a film podcast for people who still feel the pull of old genre movies. Its center of gravity is classic monster cinema and science fiction, but the range stretches into Italian thrillers, 1980s computer paranoia, space-exploration dramas, and the character actors who made these films feel larger than their budgets. The tone is easygoing. Instead of racing toward verdicts, episodes often begin with a memory, an anniversary, a convention note, or a simple admission that a movie meant something at the right age. From there, the show wanders productively. A This Island Earth episode can move from childhood awe to Mystery Science Theater-style detractors, then into familiar faces, alien roles, and the kind of everyman actor who seems to belong in the neighborhood. Earth vs. the Flying Saucers turns into more than saucer action. It becomes a way to talk about Operation Skyhook, the early rocket program, the Mercury 7 astronauts, Gus Grissom, the moon race, and the lost feeling of national adventure around space. The nostalgia is real, but it has texture. Looker gets treated as both a thriller and a time capsule of 1981 concerns about corporations, technology, beauty, and image-making, with attention paid to Lee Taylor-Young, Dorian Harewood, and the fictional Digital Matrix Incorporated. War Games brings the show into NORAD rooms, young hackers, military authority, and a cast full of recognizable 1980s performers. The Bird with the Crystal Plumage shifts the focus toward Italian cinema, art-gallery menace, investigations, and actors whose careers moved between European and American screens. Conquest of Space opens up a different retro-future, with space wheels, international crews, William Hopper, Rosemary Clooney, and a production imagination aimed beyond Earth. The show is not chilly criticism. It is more like sitting with someone who remembers where these movies sat on the shelf, who was in them, what else they did, and why a rubbery alien or a model spacecraft could still matter. That patience is the appeal. MONSTER ATTACK! works best for listeners who want film talk with personal context, release-era memory, cast archaeology, and affection for the odd corners of genre history.

Made for: For listeners who grew up on creature features, vintage sci-fi, horror thrillers, and late-night movie discoveries, or anyone who enjoys genre film history told with warmth. It especially suits fans who like character-actor trails and release-era context as much as plot recap.

What sets it apart: MONSTER ATTACK! stands out by treating familiar genre titles as personal history as well as film history. The show spends real time on supporting actors, childhood associations, anniversaries, space-race context, and the cultural mood around each movie.

In their own words

"Monster Attack" is a podcast dedicated to old "Monster Movies," the ones we all grew up with and fell in love with. These are the films that opened up a new world of scary creatures, sci-fi wonders and frightening tales of the supernatural. Former radio personality Jim Adams re-visit a time when radioactive dinosaurs threatened Tokyo, werewolves terrorized the population at large and mad scientists conducted hideous experiments in large mansions.
