Mesa do Fliper

Mesa do Fliper is the news table at Game FM, recorded live every Thursday at 8pm and published afterward for anyone who missed the stream. Alan is the constant. He opens by naming the date, greeting whoever is watching on YouTube or Spotify, and setting up a run of stories about the week in games. Then he takes his time getting to them. The headlines themselves are substantial. A Ubisoft hack. Ubisoft looking, in his blunt framing, like a company in decline. The Nintendo Switch 2 announcement. Whether the Silent Hill 2 remake is a disaster. Twitch creating a category for AI-made streamers. A new Fable, its customization options, and whether it survives a release window shared with GTA 6. Each one gets an actual opinion, delivered without hedging. What makes the show what it is, though, is everything around the news. A story about a man discovering the VTuber he was paying for was not who she appeared to be turns into a genuine caution about trust online. A hardware item becomes a monologue about the ancient brushed-steel case he still runs and the graphics card he cannot afford to replace. An e-reader review slides into a recommendation to just buy a Kindle as a gift. A discussion of electric cars stalls out on parking, resale value, and battery degradation until he apologizes for the tangent and admits there are still six items left. Regular names circulate through the room. Buda participates in some episodes. Lafayette gets affectionately defended against listeners who ask for him to sit one out. Sara comes up as someone who might do a live. Chat comments get read, argued with, and folded straight into the segment. Channel housekeeping appears wherever it lands rather than at a designated break. The endings are famously unceremonious. He signs off, thanks the people who stayed, mentions that the Mesa Debug episode is coming tomorrow, promises timestamps in the description, sometimes sends a raid to another channel he found interesting, and then tells everyone he is going to eat something and go to bed. It is Portuguese-language, Brazil-centred, and built for people who already live in this world — the kind of listener who catches the reference before it is explained. Anyone wanting a tight, quick recap will be frustrated. Anyone who wants the news plus the argument, the memory, and the digression will find the show is mostly the digression, and that this is the point.
