Magabotato

Magabotato is a German podcast about tabletop, board games, miniatures, and the surrounding hobby life. It sounds like people who have painted, bought, played, regretted, and defended enough models to have real opinions. The format is loose. A typical episode starts with greetings and banter, then settles into a topic by way of jokes, small corrections, and practical examples. That looseness is part of the appeal, because the show rarely treats tabletop gaming as something clean or theoretical. Rules matter because they change decisions on the board. Miniatures matter because people collect them, hunt limited releases, overspend, and still feel the pull of a new faction. Lore matters because Ultramarines, Macragge, Space Marine history, and Warhammer 40,000 culture can fill a long conversation without exhausting the table. The show also has room for smaller systems and skirmish games, with discussion of board size, movement, first-turn engagement, and why a compact setup can make a game feel alive sooner. Its collecting conversations are especially grounded. Freebooters, Fallout, He-Man, Blood Bowl, limited models, and big pieces become ways to talk about desire, restraint, and the pleasure of a complete shelf. Magabotato is not trying to be slick. It is better when it is specific. One speaker will make a joke, another will press the edge case, and the group will eventually find the practical hobby takeaway. Some episodes lean into Warhammer 40,000 rules and balance changes. Others feel closer to a Stammtisch, with guests, side projects, and news moving through the conversation. For tabletop listeners who enjoy the texture of real hobby talk, that combination gives the show its shape: friendly, knowledgeable, messy in a useful way, and deeply embedded in the games it covers.
