Slow politics, sharpened through culture.
The gist
lundisoir treats current disputes as openings into deeper political and cultural structures. Its episodes move from fascist humor, comics publishing, postcapitalist thought, and Javier Milei toward larger questions about power, imagination, and endurance.

About lundisoir
lundisoir is a French conversation series with the habits of a public-intellectual seminar and the urgency of a political meeting. It rarely treats an event as self-explanatory. A discussion of fascist laughter becomes an inquiry into representation, distance from reality, militant joy, protest culture, and the emotional conditions that let movements last. The tone is grave but not joyless. The show is interested in how a slogan, a song, or a comic gesture can become more than ornament when struggle would otherwise collapse into exhaustion. Its cultural episodes are equally political. In the special on bande dessinée, Astérix becomes a pressure point for questions about ownership, publishing concentration, ideological influence, and the uncertain future of a medium often dismissed as harmless. The conversation names large groups and owners, but the emphasis stays on consequences rather than gossip. lundisoir also makes room for scale. The postcapitalism episode begins from an imposing book and moves into capitalism as a historical formation, growth as a myth, ecological economics, patriarchy, colonialism, and relations between humans and non-humans. It refuses utopian tidiness. A postcapitalist world, as discussed there, is not Eden, not universal peace, and not the end of difficulty. Electoral politics receive the same patient treatment. The Milei episode asks what his project names beyond protest voting, following inflation, anti-state fantasy, class realignment, international finance, and the uses and failures of neoliberal elites. The show’s rhythm is not built for clips, though clips can reveal its force. Questions are long, answers are allowed to breathe, and the argument often advances by restating a point until its hidden assumptions become visible. That can make the listening experience dense. It also makes the show unusually good at showing how culture, economics, affect, and ideology attach to one another. lundisoir is best for listeners who want contemporary politics explained through history and theory, not merely refreshed as headlines. Its edge lies in the combination of intellectual patience and militant seriousness.
Made for: For French-speaking listeners drawn to political theory, left cultural criticism, publishing politics, and long-form interviews. It especially suits people who want current events placed inside historical, economic, and ideological frames.
What sets it apart: lundisoir stands apart by treating cultural objects as political infrastructure: laughter, Astérix, comics publishing, and songs at demonstrations all become evidence. Its conversations stay patient enough to follow abstractions without losing the concrete situations that prompted them.
In their own words
Chaque lundi soir, sur lundimatin, une discussion, une rencontre, un débat...
