Leitrim Daily

Leitrim Daily is built around the week-by-week pulse of sport in Leitrim. Its strongest identity comes through the Leitrim GAA podcast episodes, where club championship fixtures, county finals, postponed deciders, hurling, ladies football, and county match previews are handled with patient local knowledge. The show is not rushed. A single weekend can become a full map of rivalries, ticket pressure, injuries, discipline, form, morale, and the emotional weight of representing a parish. Its match talk is practical and specific. A one-point win is remembered through injury-time goalkeeper saves. A difficult scoreline is reconsidered through black-card and red-card spells. A final is framed through flags, colours, old club ties, and the simple truth that one side leaves with silver and the other does not. The tone is conversational, but it is not casual about the games. Co-hosts such as Derek Keller and Aidan Rooney bring remembered playing experience, club context, and a willingness to talk through the rough edges of knockout football. Guests add another layer, from managers and officers to people close to individual teams. The sports preview strand broadens the field. When local sport is curtailed by lockdown, the show still tracks Leitrim interest in national league GAA, hurling, soccer, rugby, and televised fixtures through GAA Go. COVID restrictions are part of the record, especially around crowd limits, cancelled sport, split county-final scheduling, and staying home to watch games. That gives the archive a strong sense of time and place. It captures a county trying to keep sport visible during an awkward season. The appeal is narrow in the best way. Leitrim Daily is for listeners who know that a club final, a minor fixture, or an intermediate championship group can carry family history, local pride, and a week of conversation. It does not flatten those details for a general audience. It trusts them. The result is a grounded, deeply local show for following Leitrim sport from inside the county’s own calendar.
