Il Futuro non è Scritto

Il Futuro non è Scritto sounds like a record shelf being searched at speed. It is an Italian music-commentary show where songs arrive with context, detours, and quick judgments attached. The format is simple, but the road is crooked. Recent episodes move through new releases, old favorites, Sanremo history, hidden curiosities, and themed runs on artists connected by family, scene, style, or era. Yardhakt can sit near Beth Gibson, Bill Rider Jones, Fountains DC, and Adrienne Lenker. The Stranglers lead into Prima Scream, Daniel Johnston, Mark Lincolns, and REM. One episode uses a book on hidden musical curiosities as fuel. Another follows foreign artists who appeared at Sanremo, including Depeche Mode, the Smiths, Damian Rice, and Blur. The show is strongest when it is piling detail onto detail. It names albums, years, instruments, genres, old disputes, live impressions, and half-remembered critical arguments, then keeps the music moving. The tone is informal and blunt without feeling careless. It can call Screamadelica a masterpiece, describe Moon Safari as a French electronic milestone, or admit that a lyric’s meaning remains unclear. That looseness matters. It makes the program feel closer to a late-night rock-radio conversation than a museum label. The range is wide: alternative rock, classic rock, New Wave, Gothic, folk, electronic, punk, No wave, dub rhythms, psychedelia, and Italian pop all pass through the same doorway. Newer albums by artists such as the Nina, Jeff Tweedy, Lucio Corsi, Panda Bear, Modern Nature, and Stereo lab get treated beside older canonical records. The show also carries traces of politics and moral urgency, especially when songs touch war, fascism, drugs, or cultural exhaustion. It does not smooth out its opinions. For listeners who like music criticism with tangents still attached, Il Futuro non è Scritto has a lived-in appeal.
