En la era de los antiguos dioses

En la era de los antiguos dioses is a Spanish Xena recap podcast with the stamina of a full rewatch and the temperament of a group chat that has finally been given microphones. The show follows Xena: la princesa guerrera episode by episode, usually with a dense burst of facts before the recap starts mutating into argument, memory, and disbelief. It is not built for neutral summary. It is built for fans who can hear the words “season five” and brace themselves. Recent episodes linger on Little Problems, Lyre Lyre Hearts on Fire, Seeds of Faith, Back in the Bottle, Purity, and the fourth-season special, which means the podcast is often knee-deep in clip-show logic, musical chaos, spiritual allegory, and plotting decisions that plainly still irritate the speakers. The criticism is blunt, but the affection is real. Bad episodes are named as bad episodes, then examined with more care than many good ones ever receive. A throwaway joke can lead to a discussion of gender expectations, a casting choice, an old callback, or why a plot device collapses if anyone remembers the previous season. The show keeps a ledger. Continuity errors matter. So do credits, episode rankings, actor appearances, disclaimers, and the long fan afterlife of Xena and Gabrielle. Queer readings are part of the normal vocabulary here, especially when the series practically hands over the evidence. The podcast is also comfortable noticing when the original show ages badly. Racist framing, homophobic jokes, awkward religious symbolism, and lazy pregnancy writing are all treated as things worth calling out, not smoothing over. Still, the tone rarely turns solemn for long. A complaint about Jesus imagery can sit beside a joke about Ares, Gabrielle, and what a god could technically watch for free. A season overview can turn into a taxonomy of “chakrams” and episodes best avoided. The rhythm is fast and interruptive. The pleasure comes from hearing knowledgeable fans refuse to pretend that messy canon is simple. It suits listeners who want recaps with taste, heat, and receipts. It also suits anyone who thinks a bad Xena episode can still produce an excellent argument.
