Fashion ethics with patience and depth.
The gist
Conscious Chatter treats clothing as an entry point into larger questions about power, land, evidence, and care. Its conversations move patiently from personal practice to industry structure, often asking what sustainability means when the easy answer is not enough.

About Conscious Chatter
Conscious Chatter is an interview-driven show about fashion, sustainability, and the systems hidden inside everyday materials. It begins with clothes, then follows the thread outward. A conversation about cotton can become a conversation about the Nile, biodynamic farming, localized supply chains, and family memory. A conversation about leather can become a careful look at ranching, waste, traceability, craft, and the limits of simple moral binaries. The show moves deliberately. It gives guests room to explain how they think, not just what they make or advocate for. Recent episodes place fashion beside climate data, journalism, open-source reporting, nature finance, regenerative agriculture, ancestral knowledge, gendered power, and ecological history. The tone is warm, but the questions are serious. Conscious Chatter is especially strong when the subject lives in the middle ground, where good intentions still need evidence and every solution carries tradeoffs. It does not treat sustainability as a clean label. It treats it as a practice shaped by politics, money, land use, culture, grief, repair, and imagination. Guests such as Beth Jensen, Miranda Green, Gail Gallie, Carry Somers, Lisa Kibutu, Emily Mikhaiel, Cate Havstad-Casad, Megan Schnitker, and Niha Elety appear through conversations grounded in specific work and lived perspective. The show often returns to the need for better information without letting imperfect information become an excuse for delay. It also makes room for older forms of intelligence: farming traditions, craft knowledge, ancestral inheritance, and community memory. That range gives the series its shape. One episode may feel almost technical, focused on life cycle assessment data and reporting methods. Another may become reflective and personal, tracing how textiles mirror human disconnection from nature. Through it all, Conscious Chatter keeps asking what fashion is responsible for, and what it might help restore.
Made for: For listeners who care about sustainable fashion but want more than trend language or brand claims. It suits people interested in ecology, supply chains, regenerative practice, climate data, craft, and the social systems behind what people wear.
What sets it apart: Conscious Chatter stands out for its willingness to stay with complexity instead of sanding it down. It connects intimate stories to industry structures, making space for data, ancestry, finance, gender, land, and material choices in the same conversation.
In their own words
The first global sustainable fashion podcast, Conscious Chatter opens the door to conversations about our clothing + the layers of stories, meaning and potential impact connected to what we wear. Hosted by Kestrel Jenkins, Conscious Chatter tackles nuanced topics that intersect with sustainability, fashion, systems of oppression, health, and wellbeing through a curiosity-driven lens. Through deep dive monthly themes, the focus is on making the conversation more circular.

Conscious Chatter brings sustainable fashion into Arts through materials, supply chains, communication, data, and accountability.
Conscious Chatter belongs in Arts because it takes clothing seriously as design, labor, land use, supply chains, and sustainability. Kestrel Jenkins hosts interviews about how garments are made, marketed, measured, and governed, and the show is at its best when those pieces…
