About Com d'Archi
Com d'Archi is a bilingual architecture podcast built around close attention. It is interested in buildings, but even more in the worlds that make them possible: education, family lineage, public commissions, heritage, landscape systems, materials, and the slow transmission of professional convictions. The English project episodes can feel like architectural essays, moving from a single urban condition into a broader argument about how cities are made. In the San Francisco spotlight, the show studies houses rising above garages, facade styles, setbacks, flat roofs, and the transformation of dunes into urban fabric. The point is not only stylistic description. It is the tension between repetition and individuality, between an ordinary street and a city built on sand. The portrait episodes are more personal. A reflection on the figure of the architect passes through Jean Nouvel, the Grand Arche, Mitterrand-era competitions, Henri Sirianni, and the grief of caring for a dying mother. That movement from professional history to private mortality is characteristic of the show's range. It can be warm. It can also be grave. In interview, Com d'Archi gives guests room to explain how their work is actually done. Maël de Quelen speaks about historic monuments through authenticity, replacement materials, documentation, roofs, and construction on occupied sites. Frédéric-Charles Aillet brings landscape into the center of the conversation, arguing for vegetated cities, greywater recycling, resilient planted systems, and urban projects with ecological impact. The show often returns to a core question: what does architecture owe to the people who live with it? Its answer is rarely simple. Buildings carry style, memory, labor, power, and environmental consequence at once. Com d'Archi is for listeners who enjoy architecture as culture, not decoration; as a discipline shaped by craft, public responsibility, and long historical argument.
Made for: For listeners drawn to architecture, heritage, urbanism, landscape design, and the cultural lives of buildings. It especially suits those who prefer measured reflection over quick design commentary.
What sets it apart: Com d'Archi stands out for its bilingual, essayistic approach: a facade, roof, monument, garden, or biography becomes a way to think about professional ethics and urban history.
