120 Minutos

120 Minutos is Costa Rican sports radio in argument form. The show lives in the pressure points of local football. A draw by Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, a Saprissa win, a Herediano result, a national-team performance, or a disciplinary controversy can all become the start of a larger fight about standards. The panel does not ease into opinions. It snaps into them. One voice questions the talent pool, another pushes back toward decision-making, and the conversation keeps turning until the blame has a shape. Costa Rica's selection is a recurring sore spot, especially when the talk turns to international pace, physicality, and whether local players are ready for matches against stronger opponents. The domestic league gets the same treatment. Youth rules, tournament format, roster construction, coaching authority, player habits, and club responsibility all come under pressure. The show can be funny, but the comedy usually comes from impatience, teasing, and people correcting each other in real time. It also carries the texture of a long-running live program: listener greetings, family mentions, production tags, local references, and offhand jokes that make the studio feel busy. Football is the spine. The atmosphere is looser than a studio debate and more pointed than casual fan chat. One segment may linger on Oscar Ramírez and Alajuelense's squad construction; another may argue over whether young players are being projected for the national team or simply filling a local rule. Champions League results and major international fixtures enter the conversation, but mainly as contrast for the Costa Rican game. Refereeing also draws attention, especially when the panel sees silence or weak institutional response after a serious incident. The show works best for listeners who already care about the names, clubs, and weekly arguments. It expects familiarity. It rewards it with pace, friction, and a strong sense of local sporting temperature.
