Insurance investigator Johnny Dollar is hired by wealthy miser Henry Gerson, who fears his impoverished nephews and niece plan to murder him for his inheritance. Gerson shows Johnny threatening biblical notes, leading Johnny to investigate the relatives. After Gerson is found dead in a locked room, Johnny uncovers that the niece, Nancy Trimmer, used a mystery magazine story to commit the perfect gas leak murder.
