The Infomaniacs: April 10, 2026 (8:00am)

April 10, 2026·46 min·3 clips
College Station City Council splits 4-3 to remove a parkway extension after a heated five-hour meeting and 40 public speakers.
A city street plan leads. The hour opens with WTAW news on College Station council removing the Pebble Creek Parkway extension from the comprehensive plan after a four-to-three vote. The room was not exactly calm. More than 40 public speakers backed removal, while Mark Smith said he had received more than 100 emails and pushed back on anger, threats, and corruption insinuations. Then the show takes the turn it likes. The birthday and national day run has everyone sizing up Walk on the Wild Side Day, bold outfits, new hobbies, and whether the outfit part is a trap. Hamsters get time, somehow. The celebrity birthdays turn into quick memory checks on Brooklyn Decker, Claire Danes, Jennifer Morrison, Ed O'Neill, Vince Gill, David Letterman, Herbie Hancock, and others. Some names get real affection. House gets a quick nod, the Indigo Girls bring up a first CD memory, and Letterman's beard takes a neat little hit for making him look older than he is. Nothing lingers long. That is the charm here; the table keeps grabbing the next odd thing on the desk before anybody can turn it into a lecture. Tech slips in next. Kindles released between 2007 and 2012 can still read books already on them, but new Kindle delivery and registering again are cut off. USB side loading and other library access become the practical answer, which is about as glamorous as it sounds. The bit turns into wordplay and moves on. Then comes the India story: the Border Security Force exploring crocodiles and snakes in the river near the Bangladesh border. If there is a 530-mile barrier and people may try to swim the waters, someone apparently wondered whether dangerous animals could handle part of the discouragement. The room meets that with the right amount of common sense disbelief. They laugh, tie it back to the Kindle bit, and head into the weekend sign-off.
