Grace confesses the horrifying truth about what she's really doing in Lennox's basement.

Grace reluctantly begins working for Lennox under a temporary contract, tasked with turning willing participants into vampires in a sterile basement room. However, she conceals from Bea that Lennox also sends people he wants revenge on to be killed, and that Grace has resumed her old violent habits with disturbing ease. Bea takes on mail room duties with a flock of helpful crows while Grace is away, finding some peace in the mundane work. Reese partners with Aurelius to solve detective cases, including retrieving a stolen golden butterfly from a surprisingly cooperative ex-husband of a spider-person client. Hollis reveals to Grace that they've stolen a powerful staff of control from Lennox's vaults and are recruiting ghouls to help overthrow him, with a board meeting planned to vote on Lennox's removal. The staff is described as an ornate, malevolent-looking artifact with a blood-red stone that can control others. Grace struggles with the intimate nature of turning vampires and the psychological toll of her work, while Lennox watches her every move. Bea grows increasingly suspicious and hurt by Grace's secretiveness, noticing mud on her shoes from visits to the Necropolis. The tension builds as Bea demands to know what's happening and wants to help with the plan against Lennox. Grace refuses, calling Bea a liability due to her inexperience as a vampire. Their argument escalates when Grace uses her vampire powers to compel Bea to stay on the couch while she leaves for another meeting with Hollis. The episode ends with Bea feeling betrayed and alone, considering reaching out to Lennox for answers about what Grace and Hollis are really doing. The supernatural office politics intensify as various factions position themselves for the coming confrontation with Lennox.
