Joe gave Wood Talk a one-star review but says he loves the show—and can't change it.
The show opens loose. Mark, Shannon, and Matt come in through the show's running joke about saying plenty and maybe saying nothing. Rockler gets the sponsor spot, with a $250 gift card giveaway before November 30th, and Matt drifts right through his cue. The Patreon thanks move fast. Billy Peterson, Nick Kudemeyer, Alexander Klein, Ron Burton, and David Murphy get named before the bench segment finds its footing. Then Alex writes in. He lives in Voorheesville, New York, admits he cannot do an accent, and lays out a Wyrmwood-like gaming table build. The problem is joinery. He wants legs tied into rails in a way that feels solid, looks clean, and keeps hardware out of sight. He also rules out one joinery option, which gives the panel just enough constraint to start picking at it. Matt gets nominated right away because Alex called him the best one, so the advice arrives with some ribbing attached. They identify the table, Google Wyrmwood on mic, and talk through gaming accessories, modular tables, and what the magnetic rail probably does. That rail takes a minute. The wording leaves room to squint, and they land on the idea that it likely holds accessories outside the table. By the end, the hosts admit the episode wandered, ask for more questions by site, email, voicemail, or Instagram, and thank whoever stayed with them.

As heard by us

Loose, practical shop talk with a long stretch on gaming-table hardware and enough useful detail to keep it grounded.

Wood Talk 559 keeps things loose and useful, with the hosts moving through prefab cabinets, leg and rail construction, grinder angles, and router bit safety without ever pretending the shop talk is more polished than it is.
