Gabriel Urbina announces Unseen, a podcast where magic is real but hidden from 99% of the world.
Unseen is a modern fantasy audio fiction series about a world where magic exists but is hidden from 99% of the population. The episode begins with creator Gabrielle Urbina briefly describing the show's premise and cast before transitioning into the first full episode, titled Never Ending Circles. The narrator and protagonist is Harry Winter, who introduces herself as an employee at Barrow's, a magic shop on Floral Street in Covent Garden that most people cannot see or enter due to magical concealment. Harry describes her backstory as an ordinary life of starts and stops, running in circles, never settling on a direction, and always five minutes behind where she thought she should be. At 25, working a street petition job in Earl's Court, she witnesses what appears to be a meteor but then perceives for the first time as two young people flying over London hand in hand. This breaks her perceptual filter and allows her to see magic everywhere. She notices the help wanted sign at Barrow's and takes the job. The shop sells magical supplies to the small community of people who can see it, and Harry finds the customers endlessly interesting at first. Over five years she learns about magic and repeatedly tries and fails to perform it herself. The shop becomes routine. Barrow's owner Mr Barrow offers her a promotion to assistant manager. The same day, a young customer buys advanced magical supplies that Harry feels the girl is too young to deserve. Harry has a standing bet with a regular named Charlie Driscoll, a witness who can see magic but cannot do it, testing him each visit with a coin trick. That day the bet triggers a panic attack and Harry smashes an enchanted mirror. Charlie offers to pay for it, Harry confesses her uncertainty about the promotion, and Charlie takes her to a magical street fair in a London park. Harry recognises all the performers as Barrow's customers she personally helped over the years. The episode closes with Harry accepting the promotion, welcoming her first customer as assistant manager. Zach Valenti follows with a brief call to rate and review the show and thanks its 1,162 Kickstarter backers.

As heard by us

A hidden-magic launch with enough charm, range, and character focus to keep the world feeling lived in.

Unseen opens as a modern fantasy in which magic is real but mostly hidden, leaving the few people who can see or use it to move through ordinary life with impossible errands, dinner-table wonder, and the sense that the familiar world has a crack running through it.
