Werewolf the Podcast: An Angels Feather (Episode 230)

·36 min·1 clip
Rain hangs over Walthamstow, the kind that sits in the air as much as it falls. Ben Johnson arrives at a serial-killer scene and finds an angel feather, which makes the supernatural feel less like theory and more like evidence. Marple is there too. Together they pick through a ritual setup of herbs, bitter salts, black candles, and warding marks scratched into brick. The wards are not meant to keep something out; they are meant to hold its attention. Worse, the victims were not just killed. They were turned into components, their suffering used as power for whatever was being called up or sent through. Ben keeps circling the practical question of what the ritual was for, and the answer keeps shifting between a door, a window, or a place where pain can be heard. The professor has the book, and it sits with him like a co-conspirator. He has also locked a werewolf in his house, which does not sound especially wise. Then the rain hardens, the phone line goes dead, and the book opens to its title: Caput Iunum. De praelio caelorum. Chapter One. On the Wars of Heaven. Some wars do not end; they just move battlefield, and this one seems to have chosen Wood Street, Walthamstow.
