Manga Monday Ep 132: Superman Vs. Meshi / Weird Science Manga & Anime

A theme-song bit immediately eats it. The opening wanders from Rosé from Blackpink to maybe Rihanna, then snaps back to the Weird Science family lane and the recent DC manga run. Superman versus Meshi sounds simple at first. They call it Superman Food Wars, then keep walking that back because the manga is food manga nonsense, just not the exact nonsense they expected. The setup bothers them right away. Superman saves a guy, and the cleaner move would have been obvious: let the rescued guy offer him food and explain the meal. Instead, Superman gets leftovers. That dead little handoff becomes the bit, because he eats the tossed-aside food anyway and reacts like Japanese grilled chicken just fixed his whole day. Then the super senses take over. The recap grabs onto the smell gag, the pig-nose image, and the food reaction that turns heat vision into a dangerous Food Wars-style blast. The truck guy gets caught in it. Superman has to apologize after looking like he set the same truck he saved on fire, which is exactly the kind of dumb superhero food logic they want to chew on. The menu scene gives them even more to work with. Superman gets cabbage, soda cola, and house specialty breast and thigh skewers covered in sauce, then somehow suspects false advertising. That question melts them a little. Nobody is sure what Superman thought he ordered, and the confusion opens the door to jokes about portions, Lois, and the menu's weird wording. The criticism stays loose, but it has teeth. They like that the manga feels strange and different, mostly because it gives them images they would not get anywhere else. They want more of that. By the end, they are already circling which DC manga comes next, less pulled toward Justice Buster and more interested in the funny, off-road choices. The closer stays Weird Science: thank the listeners, tell them to read the manga, and ride out with the weirdos-and-revolution signoff.
