My Thoughts on All 30 MLB Teams Right Now

April 8, 2026·57 min·4 clips
Jake launches a special 30-minute episode giving one-minute thoughts on all 30 MLB teams as the season heats up.
The premise is simple. Jake sets this up as maybe the signature Wake and Jake episode: 30 teams, 30 minutes, everybody gets a little time. He is moving. Before the sprint takes over, he clears the sports desk with UConn's national title loss, Masters weekend, and the NBA nearing the fun part. Then the list starts pushing back. The Phillies stop him because they have somehow slipped past his radar, so the segment becomes a live box score check instead of a finished take. Fair enough. He lands on Schwarber doing Schwarber things, a .179 average with an .822 OPS, so when he gets one, it goes. Real Muto gets love for getting on base. Sanchez gets called a freak show, Nola comes up, and Tywon Walker's rough outing hangs there like a warning light. The bullpen gets his attention too. Tim Meza and Tanner Banks give him a reason to talk lefties, zeroes, innings, and the strange daily math of being a major league reliever. Then he gets back to alphabetical order. The American League stretch starts with the Athletics, who still do not have a home, though Jake admits he wants to get out there. The Yankees angle matters. Watching Oakland against his team sharpens the read: the starting pitching has been bad enough to make a worst in baseball case so far. The bullpen could thin out fast, and Mark Leiter's recent blown saves become the kind of small note that turns a team capsule from vibes into concern. The bats are all over the place. Kurtz starts as slowly as possible, Langoliers gets catcher pantheon talk with a hard ceiling for this season, and new Max Muncy sharing old Max Muncy's birthday is treated as exactly as ridiculous as it sounds. By the end, the show has folded in UConn fatigue, Yankees overload, draft chatter, and the usual Wake and Jake shrug toward whatever Monday brings: fights, brawls, signature moments, who knows.
