Destiny McClain Replay

January 1, 2026·39 min·3 clips
Brenda confronts police at a taco truck crime scene to discover her daughter Destiny was murdered.
Destiny's family kept pushing. By the press conference, they had raised two thousand dollars for a reward fund and opened a Facebook group called Justice for Destiny. Brenda still posts there. The photos and memories keep Destiny at the center of a case that could easily turn her into evidence and nothing more. The burn book is hard to shake. Its prompted answers list family, pets, friends, food, and music as favorite things, with potatoes as a guilty pleasure. Her mom came first. Asked who she loved the most, Destiny wrote her mother, a small answer that lands heavily here. Another answer stays with the episode too. Asked about a secret skill, Destiny wrote that she could make people feel better. The show gives that detail room, and it should. Then the case slows down. By early August, police still had not identified the shooters or the car they were driving. The family kept working. A car wash fundraiser brought in four thousand dollars while they tried to build awareness and strengthen the reward. Police released pictures of two potential witnesses. In early September, Phoenix police asked for help identifying a man and a woman with dark brown hair. They described them as potential witnesses, not suspects. The uncertainty never really lifts. The host says the post was still on the Phoenix Police Department's Facebook page at recording, and Brenda did not know whether the two had been identified. So the host followed up. After weeks of back and forth with the current detective, the department still had not clearly said whether those potential witnesses were ever found. The episode closes with hope, but not neat hope. It widens to unresolved cases and the people left carrying them, with so much work still sitting there.
