VERSUS: Ep. 14: Wrong Turn vs. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

·1 hr 24 min·5 clips
Tobe Hooper apparently thought Texas Chainsaw Massacre might get a PG rating.
Spoilers are the rule here. Jamie and Jessica open by swapping weather talk, a ruined patio pond story, and the kind of sibling banter that makes the episode feel like an argument on a couch before the movie fight even starts. Once they settle in, the show slides into its usual competitive format. Two similar horror titles are on the table. The hosts keep treating the comparison like a scorecard, with facts, reactions, and side comments all piling into the same debate. The story starts with a couple rock climbing. A group of five kids is coming back from a camping trip. Their car gets hit by a spike strip and barbed-wire mess, and the trip goes sideways fast. Another driver is distracted by a CD on the floor of his car, which helps turn the whole thing into chaos. Since both cars are basically done, the characters split up to look for help. The married couple and the other two head toward a gas station. Along the way, the hosts keep interrupting themselves to sort out who is who. That pace gives the episode a live-wire feel even when they are just recapping the plot. They are happy to pause on cast names, character names, and whatever odd detail is worth making fun of. One of them even notes that a character's name only clicked after looking it up. The truck driver scene gets the usual treatment, because a rude roadside encounter is exactly the sort of thing they like to dig into. The conversation keeps drifting between summary and judgment instead of pretending those are separate jobs. That makes the episode feel less like a formal review and more like two horror fans keeping score out loud. The close turns to housekeeping, including a mini episode about alien invasions and a later full-length pick that might involve werewolves or vampires. The sign-off lands with the same quick, messy energy that carries the rest of the show.
