The Next Generation of Physical Art Collectors

September 12, 2024·34 min·2 clips
Abigail Miller unveils a two-year project with Iskra, merging generative art into physical prints.
The growth question lands early. Eli says the digital art space feels caught in a familiar story, then brings Abigail Miller in to explain Avon Art's physical first answer. Abigail does not dress it up much. Avon Art wants major artists to try physical releases and trust the process, including the quality bar. NFT language mostly waits offstage. Abigail says the site leads with art rather than a separate Web3 bucket, even when digitally native collaborations come with NFT parents. For collectors, that changes the temperature. Existing Avon Art buyers can meet these artists beside the rest of the program, without crypto framing doing the first handshake. The crossover is uneven, drop by drop. Abigail says some releases pull in a smaller but real slice of collectors who are less native to Web3. Timed limited editions seem to help. Dimitri's Lava release is her cleanest example: a physical first entry point where claiming the paired NFT also became a first NFT experience. The host presses on the wording gently. Abigail does not love the word bridge either, but it still fits what the releases are doing. The point is not to downplay digital art. Avon Art likes the technology and the community. It just thinks physical goods are what the market needs right now. That makes the strategy feel practical. The gallery is not trying to convert everyone with jargon. It gives artists a polished physical lane, then lets the digital layer come along for the ride. The close keeps some alpha on the table. Abigail teases a big Web3 artist announcement and points to an Amsterdam solo exhibition for Office Intern Kids, with physical one of ones produced alongside the artist.
