Securely Insecure

January 11, 2024·41 min·3 clips
Cody deduces from a flower delivery attempt that Audrey has moved, and goes to her parents' graves to leave daisies as a warning.
Cody is named as the threat. The opening puts a stalking complaint in front of a department that keeps treating danger like paperwork with awkward manners. Nobody comes away feeling safer. The line between official procedure and being brushed off gets thin fast, especially with more complaints already on the record. Then Haven changes the temperature. Audrey steps into the daily machinery of a tiny place, where one store has to cover hardware, the credit union, and shipping. Dahlia keeps the scene moving. Her teasing tour of Roxanne's sections makes the town sound ridiculous, useful, and just a bit trapped. The wire matters more than expected. Dahlia stops Audrey from buying it at triple price and offers to pick some up on the next supply run. Roxanne performs professionalism for two shoppers. She announces closing like the place is packed, then slides into welcome-committee mode for Haven's newest resident. The friendliness has teeth. Everyone seems to know everyone, or at least enough to ask where Rhett is. Audrey is still figuring out the map. Hardware, sunscreen, winter timing, the Ice Scraper, and Lonnie's management all become little pieces of local pressure. The comedy stays dry. People correct each other, poke at each other, and sell the town's dumpy charm without making it feel safe. That is the useful creep here. The stalker thread says danger can be filed away by systems, while Haven shows how a community can crowd you with errands, gossip, and helpful smiles.
