S2E3: Hell Hath No Flurry

·23 min·5 clips
Cece gets the kind of front-desk call that sounds harmless until it is not. Fabian says there is a package downstairs, but it is too big for the mailbox, and Anna says Cece has to sign for it. Cece heads down to see what is going on, and Auntie Bellamy is already there, fresh from London and fully committed to a dramatic entrance. She says she had work in London and came to see her girls. The family starts talking over one another almost right away. Food becomes the first battleground, and salt is suddenly under inspection. Nobody is impressed by anybody else's cooking credentials. The conversation drifts into marriage, husbands, and the idea that women should know how to keep a home together, and that gets challenged hard. One side argues that cooking is not the whole measure of a woman, that help can be hired, and that having a husband is not required for fulfillment. The parents then jump into the fight with the kind of energy that makes it clear no one is calming down politely. Wine gets poured. The father gets touchy about alcohol in front of him. The mother says the girls are grown and need room to breathe. The argument spreads into jokes and insults about American raising, Nigerian expectations, and who is acting childish and disrespectful. Right when the room is already on fire, an emergency snowstorm warning arrives in the middle of summer. The family looks outside and sees snow, and the episode ends on laughter, spilled attitude, and everybody trying to understand how this weather has the nerve.
