Angie and Jamal have been carrying on a secret affair. Angie has decided it has to end because it is getting too risky. Around 7pm, she invites Jamal over under the pretense of a usual meeting. Jamal arrives expecting the closeness he has come to expect from her, but instead he is met by a somber Angie. She tells him the affair has to end, that it is becoming too risky, and that they both need to move on. Jamal, who has grown increasingly attached, is stunned by the rejection. Shock quickly turns to anger. He accuses Angie of using him and playing with his feelings. Angie tries to stay calm and explain that it is not like that. Jamal is not listening anymore. His desperation shows as he pleads with her not to end things. Angie stands firm. She tells him again that it is over and that he needs to leave. The argument escalates quickly. Jamal grabs her arm and pulls her close. Angie pulls away and demands that he go immediately. He shoves her away from him, she stumbles backward toward the staircase, and the next few seconds end with a fatal fall down the stairs. Jamal freezes at the top, rushes down to her, realizes she is gone, and flees the scene.
