Bonus Episode: Q&A July 2025 (Live from Discord)

July 30, 2025·1 hr 5 min·5 clips

Annie and Brett reveal they've completed Towers of Midnight and are gearing up to tackle the final book, A Memory of Light.

Live on Discord, the room is already loose. Annie sets the spoiler-free lane for first-time readers, and Brett takes his usual long-time-fan seat beside her. The studio is new. The episode opens with thanks, theme-song momentum, and the choice to send the live Q&A straight to listeners. Then the question barely gets out of the driveway. Pat and Fane becomes the problem, not as a normal villain, but as a weird enough problem to deserve bad ideas. Water comes first, which quickly turns into Wizard of Oz logic, because sure, maybe a bucket handles it. A skimming gateway comes next. Annie grabs that and sends Pat and Fane through it with the golem, doomed to fall together forever. Somehow, that turns romantic. Brett jokes close enough to fake-spoiler territory that Annie catches him, and he wriggles out by saying now she would never see it coming. Then comes the volcano plan. If Pat and Fane lands at the bottom, can he swim out of lava? They decide lava is too thick, which sends Annie toward Anakin Skywalker and Brett into correction mode. Arms and legs enter the chat. Pat and Fane briefly becomes a future Darth Vader figure, menacing in theory and useless in practice. The Discord prompt is still sitting there, patiently waiting. That is the fun of it. The live room lets reader-brain, lore-brain, and joke-brain crash into each other without breaking the spoiler boundary. The ending returns to housekeeping: Patreon bonuses, early access, almost 50 bonus episodes, reviews, referrals, Discord, shot glasses, the website, and the familiar pattern line.
