Frode Hov, Lofoten Links | Episode No. 483

·1 hr 15 min·2 clips
My father's vision of Scottish golf in Norwegian landscape took decades to realize.
Frode Hov discusses multi-decade journey building Lofoten Links, world's northernmost links golf course (68° north). Project originated from his father's 1990s vision inspired by Scottish golf design applied to Norwegian Arctic landscape. After university study of golf tourism, Frode pursued funding and built six-hole proof-of-concept (1998), then full 18-hole course (2015) with architect Jeremy Turner. Recent California visit (Cyprus Point, Pebble Beach) reinforced confidence in design despite continued course refinement. Arctic management (midnight sun 24-7 golf May-July; Northern Lights Sept-Oct; winter dormancy) presents unique challenges. Hole names connect to Sami culture and local history. Top 100 ranking recently achieved.
