Curling & Disc Golf with Oskar Eriksson, John Houck

March 5, 2026·1 hr 18 min·6 clips
Curling champion Oskar Eriksson explains the 'snake in the grass' incident that blew up at the Olympics.
Thursday, March 5th, starts strangely. With no Pro Tour event this weekend, Charlie and Josh Mansfield build the show around anticipation instead of results. They joke about springing forward, and the lost sleep turns pretty naturally into another hour of disc golf and playground weather. The setup is loose, but it has a point. Charlie lines up back-to-back interviews from very different corners, then brings the attention back to the Big Easy Open arriving next week. John Houck is the anchor. He joins as the designer of Grand Cypress Bayou at Parc des Familles, the course about to debut on the Disc Golf Pro Tour. Charlie sounds fired up. A new tour venue is already interesting, and a New Orleans-area swamp course gives this stop a texture the usual calendar does not have. Houck begins with the work. He credits the Pro Tour, the local club, the parish, and Visit Jefferson Parish for helping push a fast rebuild from July into early December. The schedule sounds tight because the course needed time for seeding, growth, and a greener look by tournament week. Then the machines started breaking down. Even so, Houck describes a place that has existed since 2017 and now feels rebuilt for a bigger stage. The identity is what sticks: huge cypress trees, lush ground, sanded fairways, and Matty O's online praise make Parc des Familles sound like a real test, not a generic new stop. The close gets practical. Charlie sends listeners toward more Big Easy preparation, including a planned Silas Schultz conversation, mailbag prompts, and the usual Upshot signoff.
