Da Bears heading to Da Region?

·17 min·1 clip

Tony D shares the tragic news of NASCAR champion Greg Biffle's fatal plane crash, just days after he was in Indianapolis.

The episode begins with host Tony Donohue expressing condolences for NASCAR champion Greg Biffle, who died in a private plane crash in North Carolina after recently being in Indianapolis for the PRA show. Tony then transitions to football, starting with a mention of the Colts' upcoming Monday night game against the 49ers without Anthony Richardson. The main topic is a rumor about the Chicago Bears considering a move to Northwest Indiana, which Tony acknowledges is unlikely but fun to discuss. He explains his personal connection as someone born in Valpo and raised in Portage. Tony reads a statement from Bears CEO Kevin Warren about expanding the team's draw and evaluating opportunities in the wider Chicagoland region, including Northwest Indiana. He details the Bears' failed attempt to build a stadium in Arlington Heights after purchasing 326 acres. Tony analyzes potential locations in Northwest Indiana, dismissing Gary due to its reputation and LaPorte for being too far. He focuses on Portage, highlighting its space, access via the South Shore train line, and proximity to Chicago via highways. An ad break promotes Flooring is Forever. Tony then shifts to the Colts, admitting he was mostly wrong about Philip Rivers' performance in Seattle, though the Colts lost. He notes the team's playoff chances have plummeted from 99% to about 5%. Tony expresses exhaustion with the Colts' season and reflects on recent heartbreaks in Indianapolis sports, including the Pacers' playoff run ending with Tyrese Haliburton's injury and the Fever making the WNBA finals despite Caitlin Clark being hurt. He briefly mentions IU football missing the Pop-Tarts Bowl. The episode ends with holiday wishes and thanks to listeners.
