The host says low estradiol shifts fat into the abdomen and raises visceral fat around organs.
The frustration is the hook. The host talks to listeners who feel brushed off, told their labs are normal, and sent home with the same advice while their bodies keep changing. Then she moves quickly: metabolism is a hormone environment problem, not something that usually shifts because someone repeats the basics louder. Thyroid gets the first hard look. She pushes back on the habit of checking TSH and free T4 while skipping the marker she sees as the active thyroid signal: free T3. In her framing, free T3 is where the story either starts to make sense or leaves the listener stuck. Reverse T3 gets just as much attention. The host says it shows whether T4 is converting toward T3, which can change the thyroid medication strategy completely. That is where the warning lands. If reverse T3 is high, simply adding natural desiccated thyroid may make things worse because, as she notes, NDT is 80% T4. Natural does not automatically mean right. She takes a swipe at practitioners who treat natural as a shortcut instead of checking whether the patient’s conversion picture supports it. Medication choice becomes lab guided: change thyroid medication, add T3 as lyothyronine, or avoid piling on more T4 heavy treatment, depending on free T3 and reverse T3. Estradiol comes in as part of the metabolic picture too, tied to metabolism and insulin sensitivity rather than treated only as a cycle hormone. The episode is blunt about normal labs, vague reassurance, and one size thyroid fixes. That mix, the host argues, is exactly how people stay tired, stuck, and annoyed.
