The Thieves Guild Friday Binge: Chapters 1-5

Rafe rejects every workaround for the paper crisis and admits, 'I don't know what to do.'
Rafe reads by candlelight. The wand warms in his palm while Pietro’s pages keep shifting under his quill, and the first account he copies concerns a shepherd boy, a moonlit shape, and a treaty signed in good faith by men who took the terms as metaphor. Raelen has ridden off with the guild seal, and the distance between departure and return grows into another kind of danger because no one can measure it from the room. The road is still a problem. It keeps carrying the matter beyond the desk, beyond the room, and beyond the reach of anyone left with ink on their hands. Philos will not remove the armor. He sits in full black armor with the sword across his knees, and Raylan counts six jars while the silence stays in place.
