The Superlatively Yes Podcast · Tanya Smith and Jennifer McCroddan

An Award Winning Podcast

·57 min·3 clips
Jennifer names the Nobel Peace Prize, the IQ award from Mensa, and the EGOT as awards neither host is likely to win.
Tanya and Jennifer start with awards. The catch-up becomes an award-winning podcast about awards they have won, awards they have not won, awards they will never win, and a few they can make a decent case for, at least emotionally. First up, naturally, are the microphones. Jennifer has Mark helping with the setup, and Tanya clocks the danger of becoming your own tech guy. That alone could win something, if blooper reels counted. Then they drift into awards that sound impressive until the qualifications show up. Mensa is a no. Jennifer talks about a meeting where the Harvard and MIT language around logistics needed a decoder ring, and the whole bit lands because it is so familiar: that moment when everyone else sounds fluent and you are just trying to keep the smile in place. Nobody plays superior. They just name the room. The Heisman gets ruled out next. They can admire college football skill all day, but deep emotional viewing does not make a person eligible. Pulitzer talk takes a hit too. Tanya is writing a book for fun, then gets stuck trying to remember a writing term, which is about as on brand as it gets. The awards keep circling the same funny gap: loving something, respecting the talent, and being nowhere near winning the thing. The joke stays on them, so it feels warm instead of mean. By the end, the most useful prize is a night off from dinner for Jennifer, which apparently means cereal. Real life does hand out trophies like that. They wrap with Patreon video details, Instagram housekeeping, and a nudge toward Jennifer's coaching account. Loose, specific, and happily ridiculous.
