2026-02-22 Legal Right Pt. 2 Spiritual Transactions "Live" w/ Bishop M.J. Reid

February 23, 2026·1 hr 31 min·5 clips
Pastor Reed says you're a priest of God, and offering praise is your job—not just when you feel like it.
Joy comes first. The sermon is already moving when the preacher pushes the room to remember that the world did not give them joy, so the world does not get to take it. Then it gets pointed. He names the devil as an adversary who moves toward sorrow, chaos, brokenness, and the private talk that agrees with defeat. Thoughts are not harmless in this sermon. When someone keeps giving voice to the worst version of things, the warning is that devils draw near and start confirming what that person already fears. That is where the transaction language hits. Faith is a release toward heaven, and heaven answers with the promise a person believed for. Fear copies that motion. In this frame, fear opens doors in the kingdom of darkness because it is faith turned the wrong way. He keeps it plain, too. Some people carry fear so easily, he says, because their mamas and daddies put it in them. Then the sermon gets funny. His mother becomes the example, a champion worrier who could pick up extra worry when nobody else was carrying enough. He remembers his mother and aunt fretting, signifying, and building whole conversations out of repeated sounds when somebody walked in looking wrong. The humor has a job. Those family memories show how a house can rehearse anxiety until fear starts sounding like common sense. Then he pulls the room back to the point: reject the spirit of fear, be filled with the Holy Ghost, speak in tongues, receive joy unspeakable, raise a hand, and say plainly that they are enjoying Jesus.

As heard by us

A pulpit-driven sermon about joy, fear, and faith that feels spoken rather than staged.

This sermon reads like a working pulpit conversation about joy, fear, and spiritual pressure. M.J. Reed is at his best when he grounds a theological point in a plain social scene, whether he is talking about the devil feeding on chaos or women signifying and fretting.
