It starts with Jacksonville warmth. Botter brings the episode in as a Short Box classic, recorded at his first New York Comic Con panel in 2023. The setting does a lot of work. He remembers New York Comic Con as a first-timer's blur: cool sights, a real honor, and finally meeting Brad and Lisa face to face. Then the panel settles into its actual sweet spot. Comic book podcasts feel useful when they let creators slow down and explain where stories come from. Troy gets the best lane here. Asked about favorite interviews, he talks about being hooked on story and wanting to trace characters and ideas back to their starting point. Todd McFarlane is the anchor. McFarlane apparently let the interview turn into a real conversation, which Troy says is how he likes to work anyway. That feels very Short Box. The panel never turns podcasting into some grand business pitch. It keeps coming back to fandom, access, and the fun of asking the thing you have always wondered. Botter keeps the room loose. Even the little flex joke after Troy mentions interviewing McFarlane about three times feels like convention teasing. The close is pure housekeeping: a long patron roll call, then the usual take care, read a good comic, and keep it Short Box. The episode plays like a souvenir, more live-panel memory than polished manifesto.
