The Pull Bag

13th Anniversary of The Pull Bag!! - The Road To 600 Episodes!

·31 min·3 clips
TFG1Mike explains how 'The Pull Bag' name came from a friend's suggestion that made him jump out of his chair.
The episode starts with the usual network runway. The GCRN intro sets up The Pull Bag as a comics escape, then the host settles into desk talk about patches, booklets, and mail day bits before the real memory lane kicks in. The best stretch is the story of the show's name: the abandoned Pull List idea, the snag that it sounded too close to something else, and the practical lesson that followed. Before you commit to a podcast name, check Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, Google, and anywhere else people might already be using it. The advice comes out in a very Pull Bag way, through repeats, corrections, and fan chatter where the side road is part of the ride. Michael Powers gets the big credit. Pull Bag works because it nods to the comic shop pull list idea without making the show sound borrowed. The host clearly still remembers that click. A self mocking physical aside keeps the origin story from getting too tidy, which helps. The comic names stay comfortably inside fan territory: DC, Marvel, Image, IDW, Boom Studios, Xenoscope, Transformers, He-Man, superheroes, TMNT, Radiant Black, and The Dark Knight Returns all pass through like shared shorthand. This is not really for brand new comics readers. It feels more like hanging near the counter while longtime fans remember how the podcast got its name, who helped, and what somehow still has not been covered. The close goes back to house business with the website, iTunes review ask, Facebook page, email address, Twitter handles, and the familiar great escape signoff. It is not a polished retrospective. It is a fast, affectionate origin story with plenty of shop talk in the walls.

As heard by us

A comic podcast revisits how The Pull Bag got its name and kept pushing toward 600 episodes.

The Pull Bag frames its long run like a comic-book origin story, following the shift from a too-similar early title to the name that finally stuck.
