RJ Ochoa suggests Brandon Aubrey might be misreading his leverage in contract talks that could make him the NFL's highest-paid kicker.
Texas spring runs warm. The show starts in mid-80s weather, with golf wind, track chatter, and lunchtime riffing before the sports talk settles in. Then the combine gets the raised-eyebrow treatment. RJ Ochoa is asked where his excitement needle sits, and he lands closer to useful convention than appointment TV. The drills catch most of the heat. Medical checks and team interviews are treated like the stuff that matters, while the televised testing gets filed as noise that rarely changes much. There is still room for a player to help himself, especially someone coming in with less buzz, but the event does not feel like it used to. Interviews matter more than drills. For the Cowboys, that is the real draft-board angle, because a bad room can send a player sliding. Then the running back talk shifts to Javante. His deal gets a pretty clean approval from a voice that says it has no problem ripping the Cowboys front office. The length, money, and timing all make sense for a position where Dallas did not need to get reckless. It is approval, not a parade. Letting him walk would have been fine, but getting a back they like at a sane price earns the nod. The close loosens up again with Pat McAfee's football-through-a-hole bit, Jim Harbaugh getting a quick moment beside Mike McDaniel, and Harbaugh still somehow having it before ESPN Central Texas game time takes over.
