Geek Fallout Reloaded: Sept 23/2025

What happened to friendly debate? What happened to agree to disagree?
Geek Fallout Reloaded opens with Chris Lockhart welcoming listeners back and introducing Kevin. They note that another guest might join, but keep going without them. The conversation starts with an old man style check-in on the Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo. Chris says the guest list felt underwhelming to him, even with Christopher Lloyd on it, because autograph and photo op prices felt too high. He points out that his Tim Daly photo op cost less than half of that. That leads him into a Wings memory from the 1990s. He remembers watching the reruns a lot during its USA Network run. The episode then turns to a wider discussion of being online too much. Chris and Kevin talk about how social media and media coverage can keep stoking hate. They make the case for more direct social contact instead. A story from the Blue Suede Music Festival in Westlock gives that idea a concrete shape. Chris describes riding with his mother while she drove a celebrity guest from the hotel to the venue. The guest, an older actress with a Southern style, asked why people in western Canada dislike Trudeau. Chris says they tried to explain it as plainly as they could. She responds with the old advice not to talk politics or religion if you can help it. Chris says hearing that from her made the point land even harder. He notes that the podcast is not usually political. The conversation then moves to the September 16 death of Robert Redford. Chris also looks ahead to a Trek 1701 episode that should arrive soon. He is not sure whether it will land next week or the week after. He mentions more Pop Culture Pub and more Geek Fallout Reloaded coming soon. Kevin closes by sharing where listeners can find him online. Chris signs off by thanking listeners and promising that the next episode will probably be less political, fingers crossed.
