Die Hard 2/ Lethal Weapon (CT Cult Classics Christmas Special)

December 9, 2025·2 hr 39 min·15 clips
The Pint tees up a Connecticut Cult Classics Christmas special. John says the December 13 show in Seymour, Connecticut is the reason for the package, and he frames the two picks as Christmas action classics, or, more bluntly, Christmas cops. The first half is Die Hard 2. That conversation is not new, because the show already covered it in July during its summertime 1990s run, and John notes that he missed that recording after hurting his rib, so Lloyd and Stu handled it. The second half is Lethal Weapon. That one first ran on the Pint Insider Patreon with John, Professor Joe, and Shawnee Mack for the film's 35th anniversary, and the episode is being opened to the public here because the team had already done both titles. The setup feels partly like promotion and partly like an archive package, which suits The Pint just fine, since the show is happy to wander through jokes, corrections, and side notes. Die Hard 2 gets the most pushback. The panel talks about its length, its habit of piling on plot, and the ridiculous amount of coincidence needed to make the airport-and-snowstorm machinery work. They keep circling the same complaint: if the blizzard were not there, the planes would land, the bad guys would lose their leverage, and the whole thing would shrink into a much smaller movie. They also keep coming back to the franchise joke built into it. The sequel gives John another Christmas Eve disaster with his family once again under threat, and the movie seems to know how absurd that is. Box office numbers get a pass too. John runs through the rough financial shape of the movie, says he did not do a deep research pass, and takes a shot at Box Office Mojo because its domestic and worldwide figures never seem to line up cleanly. The package ends with the usual plea to support the show, grab tickets, leave a review, and tell somebody else what The Pint is. It is messy, funny movie-nerd talk that fits nicely with cult action Christmas nonsense.
