A military captain offers Olivia a place in their ranks after revealing alien Mimicas are being harvested worldwide for warfare.

The episode opens mid-action as Olivia and Eric arrive at a location where Olivia's mother is being held. An antagonist speaking in Howard's voice greets them. The operative explains he uses Howard's voice because Howard died providing it and he finds it calming. Olivia immediately pushes back, connecting the voice to her dead colleague and the deaths of others. The operative begins laying out the full story: NASA detected an alien object entering Earth's atmosphere, but a local man named Freddie Martin found it before the government could contain it. Freddie was infected and the first of the creatures, called Mimica, was born. The government's goal has been to harness the Mimica's impenetrable armor and voice-mimicry for military advantage, especially given that alien landings were detected in multiple countries, some hostile. Olivia learns that Freddie Martin was Maria's brother, adding personal dimensions to the deaths already suffered. The operative defends the program as a choice between the deaths of a few people in River Oaks and the potential for mass casualties in a future conflict. The military has failed to replicate the technology artificially, so they began harvesting directly from new creatures. The operative presents Olivia with a choice: join the operation or be killed. He notes that her mother's illness, caused by sensitivity to Mimica frequencies, would disappear once she is away from the creatures. Olivia appears to accept. In the aftermath, she and Eric use a captured voice box to bluff headquarters before the trick is discovered. The two then work together to use compressed air to kill several Mimica and trigger chaos in the military convoy. Olivia names each fallen colleague before they make their move. The plan largely succeeds and they escape with Olivia's mother. As they drive away, Olivia repeatedly tries the radio for help. The episode ends with an unidentified voice responding and a final transmission labeling the operation complete and initiating the next sequence, suggesting the story is not fully over.
