The episode then broadens out into the rest of the cricket week and whatever else has been happening in the game. The panel keeps the tone loose even when the cricket detail stays sharp. By the end, the show settles into beef territory. One commentator gets singled out as someone the hosts want kept on comms purely for the trouble he causes. The ideal version of this world, apparently, is that commentator and another broadcaster talking trash at each other until somebody’s brain combusts. The closing stretch turns that irritation into a kind of affectionate sports-radio philosophy. Cricket needs its antagonists. The episode ends with the usual warm contempt and a thank-you for watching.
