#235 HARRIET ROSE

·47 min·10 clips
Karl brings Harriet Rose back onto the line. He says it has been about two and a half years since they last had a proper catch-up, and that gap gives the conversation a bit more warmth straight away. Harriet says she has moved to Newcastle and become a homeowner, which Karl teases as proper adult territory while Harriet says it feels like she has lived three different lives. The chat stays easy. Karl opens up the practical side of her music life by asking about support slots, and Harriet explains that keeping in touch with people who have helped matters a lot. She names Tom and Joe with real warmth. Harriet says they are lovely people, that she owes them loads, and that Joe put her in touch with people for the first Rock and Roll Circus before inviting her back for the Leadmill gig. Karl keeps the tone light. The two of them talk through the Manchester Academy date supporting Lottery Winners, and Harriet remembers being asked to do it as a huge moment because it was the biggest stage and biggest solo outing she had taken on. She still thinks it was a bit mental. Harriet says the band did not need to do that for her, and she reads that gesture as a sign of who they are. Respect keeps coming back into the conversation. She says she does not have enough good words for Tom, Kit, and the rest of the band because of how much they work for fans and keep putting the effort in. Karl agrees. He frames the whole thing as the way success often moves through support, goodwill, and people helping each other up. The ending is affectionate. Karl thanks Harriet for joining him again, says he is proud of her, and wishes her well as she heads into 2026. The show then rolls into its usual support message about affiliate links, donations, subscriptions, and telling a friend.

As heard by us

A warm catch-up that treats support slots and working relationships as the real story.

Harriet Rose comes across as someone whose life has shifted into a more settled register since Karl Maloney last caught up with her. She is in Newcastle now, a homeowner, and the conversation keeps one eye on music work and the other on ordinary adult logistics.
