1. The MODUS Files' The Ballad of Trader Red, Episode 3 "The Warm Up" (about 39 minutes), follows Red and the Bailey family on the road toward Oneida after they cross the Dust Bowl. 2. Pandora Beatrix narrates and Christopher Rockwell-Monk voices the Reaver Corndog, while the characters Red, Slim, Clayton, J.D., and Amos carry the dialogue. 3. The episode's tension builds on the opening warning that the Reavers "don't forget and they don't forgive," and Red is guiding a family into territory where those Reavers are active. 4. Red haggles a pocket watch from Lewisburg up from 20 to 25 caps, then finds she cannot afford the 7-caps-per-portion price at Slim's barbecue pit for the whole family. 5. Slim recognizes Red's hill-country accent, recalls moonshine runners Martha and the Jimmy Twins who juggled dynamite sticks, and gives her two packs of salted brahmin as repayment of an old debt, which she answers by handing him a bag of caps. 6. Slim tells Red the Reavers have sent slavers as far north as Lexington and into settlements around Chattanooga, and he advises her to "turn yourself around" instead of heading south, while Red explains the Baileys are "dead set" on Oneida. 7. On the hill above camp, Red catches J.D. on guard duty, grabs his neck with clawed hands, and releases him only after his father Clayton promises "it won't happen again." 8. At dinner, a Bailey child tells Red that J.D. was sweet on a girl from a neighboring family and fought with their pa about leaving, while Red privately hides her goggles-covered eyes, her horns, her tail, and the deathclaw egg from the children. 9. During night watch, Red's enhanced vision picks out radroaches, bloodbugs, and stingwings, and she smells cooked human flesh from a distant campfire, which she identifies as Reavers. 10. Fans of Fallout audio drama and slow-burn wasteland road stories will enjoy this one.
