S03E10: Stop Chasing the Crowd — Build Your Circle

The subject is not hardship for its own sake. It is the kind of circle a man needs when leadership gets lonely. He says strong men still need other men around them. He says not everyone can be trusted with private pain. Some people hint at what they heard and make themselves unsafe immediately. He introduces the idea of a vault. A vault can sit with you in silence and not rush to fix you. A vault can pray with you. A vault can process with you. A vault can hold the flashlight in a dark room while you sort out what is actually going on. He connects that trust to identity and steadiness. He also says a vault usually grows out of a previous stage, where the other man was first a truth teller or a faithful wounder. The teaching then moves into leadership burnout. If a leader bottles everything up, he says, the pressure will eventually break him. He asks who encourages the encouragers. He asks who leads the leaders. He treats that as a real cultural need. He reaches for the image of John resting on Jesus' chest to show that deep covenant friendship is not sentimental, but sustaining. It ends on the belief that great things take struggle and that the greater the challenge, the greater the reward that may follow.
