RQ Network Feed Drop – Malevolent Part 1 “The Dark World”

January 14, 2026·49 min·4 clips
A private investigator wakes up blind and memory-less, guided only by an eerie voice that claims to see through his eyes.
A symbol sits on the basement door. It matches the mark on the book, the same book tied to whatever is now trapped inside Arthur's body. The bookshop is the next stop, though getting there is not simple. Arthur needs another mind to lend him sight, warn him about stairs, and catch the things he cannot see. A taxi is the plan. Before they leave, Arthur checks the grim little inventory: the gun, the book, and the bit of trust they have managed so far. Ed may be outside. The guide watches for him, talks Arthur down the stairs, and makes walking feel like a rehearsal for survival. Neither of them has much to work with. The passenger wants to know why he is bound to Arthur and how to get free. Arthur wants that too. He also wants to know what this thing is, and where it came from. The answer does not help much. The being says the book is not from this world, or even this side of the divide. Arthur asks for something like a road. What he gets is a map that keeps getting darker. The horror stays close to the floor: railing, basement door, taxi, maintenance man. Around the sample, Rusty Quill points listeners toward the Magnus Archives Mysteries and a forthcoming Jurgen Leitner novel.

As heard by us

A tense horror debut built around a bound man, a marked book, and a reality with rules that keep tightening.

Malevolent opens with a knotty mix of the visible and the half-known: a bound man, a book marked with the same symbol as the basement door, and a world that keeps shrinking under stranger rules.
