Today You Will Be with Me in Paradise, Part 2

March 10, 2026·33 min·2 clips
When the scribes and Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery to Jesus with stones in hand, he wrote on the ground and said 'let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone.'
The opening is warm and gently teasing. Robert Hatfield and Dan Winkler acknowledge the affection listeners hear between them, then let the banter settle into the real work: thinking aloud about Jesus. That matters in this episode. Their study returns to Jesus' words to the thief on the cross, treating paradise less like a location to map and more like nearness to Christ. They keep asking what paradise means, and the answer stays simple: wherever Jesus is, whatever it looks like, that will be heaven. John 17 gives the thought weight. When Jesus prays for his disciples to be with him and see his glory, the promise is presence before description. John 14 gives it comfort. The prepared place is not reduced to mansions; its warmth comes from Jesus saying his people will be where he is. Then the conversation turns personal. One host imagines waiting however long it takes, because forever leaves room to sit with Jesus, thank him, love him, and talk awhile. It is tender without getting sugary. Grace is the point: the disciple stands with the Lord he loved because that Lord first gave his life. Revelation 21 gathers the hope into the no mores, no pain, death, or separation, as blessings that flow from the presence of God and Christ. Compassion closes the episode. The hosts connect the thief's promise with Jesus' treatment of the woman. He does not excuse sin, and he does not step away from sinners. Mercy gives people courage to hear him clearly, leave changed, and trust that his compassion reaches us now.
